4-H Public Speaking County CompetitionThe 4-H Public Speaking County Competition will be held on Tuesday, April 26th, at the Flagler County Extension Auditorium. The competition is part of the Public Speaking School Enrichment Program, which is coordinated by the county 4-H Cooperative Extension Office, in partnership with Florida Power & Light Company. Parents, teachers and friends are invited to attend.

The public speaking competition is open to 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. Participants start at the classroom level, where they develop their ideas into a three to five minute speech on the topic of their choice. The top three speakers from each class then participate in a school-level competition. The first-place speakers from each school move on to present their speeches at the county competition.

The Public Speaking School Enrichment Program gives students the opportunity to embrace the 4-H “Learn by Doing” motto as they develop critical thinking, self-motivation, and communication life skills.
